New Nomad Institute - a research and action institute that aims to uncover the enduring knowledge of nomadic societies and apply those learnings towards addressing the climate crisis.
The challenge
NNI, a recently established non-profit organisation, in search of a logo and visual identity. The solution they sought was to incorporate Mongolian traditional elements, especially the sustainable nomadic lifestyle, to showcase the essence of their organisation.
The solution to the design was to highlight a camel figure in the corporate logo, as camels are the foundation of nomadic lifestyle for transporting yurts.
The positioning of the logo's wordmark and symbol symbolises the preservation of Mongolian nomadic lifestyle in the modern era, celebrating it as our cultural symbol. This theme is reflected in the dots ascending from the bottom word up to the camel's head.
The visual elements is inspired by the traditional patterns found in yurt interiors, furniture, and decorations.
